Strive just added 17.76 bitcoin — a number chosen to nod at 1776 — pushing its treasury to 19,882 $BTC.

The company bought the coins between June 29 and July 2 at an average price near $59,850. CEO Matt Cole shared the update on X, days before the US marks its 250th independence anniversary.

The weekly buy looks tiny next to the quarter behind it. Strive acquired 6,236 bitcoin in the three months to June 30 at an average of $74,290, lifting holdings from 13,628 to 19,864 coins by quarter close, and reported a 24.0% bitcoin yield.

Here's the caveat worth keeping: Strive says its quarterly closing procedures aren't finished, so the numbers are preliminary and unaudited. It also notes its bitcoin yield is a non-traditional metric that excludes debt and preferred claims, and that its share price can drift from the value of its coins.

That accumulation has a running bill. Strive funds purchases partly through its SATA preferred stock, paying cumulative monthly dividends at about 12.25% annualized. SATA outstanding reached $783 million by June 30, and the annualized dividend obligation rose to $101.8 million from $56.2 million in March. Its blended cost basis sits at $94,761 per coin, above what it just paid.

The backdrop matters too. Bitcoin fell from near $114,332 in September 2025 to about $58,631 at the end of Q2, which cut the market value of existing coins while making new ones cheaper. Separately, Strategy (MSTR) said it sold a record 3,588 bitcoin for $216 million to fund preferred dividends.

What it means for you: if you track bitcoin treasury stocks, the number to watch may be dividend cost against bitcoin-per-share, not just total coins held. Buying into a drawdown can lower entry prices while raising fixed cash obligations, and those two forces could pull in opposite directions.

The takeaway worth saving: Strive bought the dip, but it is paying roughly 12.25% to do it.
