A Bitcoin payment screenshot can reveal more than the amount you sent.
Bitcoin transactions are public and permanently recorded. If you post a transaction ID alongside your name, you can connect your identity to activity that anyone can inspect on a block explorer.
That is the difference between a public ledger and a private bank statement: hiding your name inside a wallet app does not hide the blockchain record.
Before sharing a payment screenshot, remove transaction IDs, addresses and identifying details. For a self-custody Bitcoin wallet, use a fresh receiving address for each payment.
The limitation: a new address does not guarantee anonymity. Transaction history and information shared elsewhere can still create links. Treat payment evidence as personal financial information.
