Binance commits $6.34B to cover losses following security incident
Binance has announced that it has allocated more than $6.34 billion in company funds to cover losses from its recent security breach.
According to its official update:
$5 billion is already held in the affected crypto assets.
The remaining amount is being acquired through market and OTC channels.
Around $3 billion in stolen assets has reportedly been frozen with help from industry partners.
Binance says it has contained the compromised infrastructure and strengthened security controls.
The exchange says it will cover the losses rather than pass them on to users. The investigation and recovery efforts are still ongoing.
This incident raises an important question for the entire industry: how can exchanges improve custody security and make user protection more transparent?
