Your Bitcoin address has no name attached—but a public payment screenshot can supply the missing link.
Bitcoin transactions are public and permanently recorded. Once someone connects an address to you, they can inspect its balance and transaction history. That is not the same as seeing every coin you own, but it can reveal more than you intended.
Before sharing a payment screenshot, check for visible addresses, transaction IDs, and details that identify the payment. For a self-custody wallet, use a fresh receiving address when supported instead of repeatedly posting the same one.
The limitation: fresh addresses do not guarantee anonymity. Later transactions can connect addresses, and information shared today may become easier to trace tomorrow.
