Why did a limit order pay taker fees?

On Binance spot, a regular limit order can trade immediately against orders already waiting in the book. Setting a price limit does not automatically make you a maker: that immediate execution takes liquidity.

Post-only changes the choice. Binance calls this order type LIMIT_MAKER and rejects it if it would immediately match and trade as a taker. You give up that immediate fill rather than take the available quote. An order resting in the book still has no guaranteed fill.

That matters when estimating a strategy's trading costs. A calculation that assumes maker fees for every ordinary limit order can misstate the bill. Check the applicable commission rates for your account and pair, then the maker/taker status of the actual fills—not just the order's label. No universal fee percentage follows from choosing “limit.”
