Data from the Binance platform indicates that Bitcoin futures open interest stands at approximately $9.15 billion, with the price trading near $80,774. This comes as the balance of trader positions shows a relative tilt toward the sell side, based on the volume of long and short positions.
The data reveals that the volume of long positions is approximately $3.91 billion, compared with about $4.11 billion for short positions, resulting in a long/short ratio of roughly 0.95. This means that the volume of short positions slightly exceeds that of long positions, signaling a limited bearish bias in the Bitcoin futures market on Binance.
Meanwhile, open interest of $9.15 billion reflects a substantial volume of positions remaining open in the market. This figure becomes particularly significant when viewed alongside price action, as the fact that open interest remains high while Bitcoin trades near $80,000 suggests continued speculative activity in the derivatives market.
Additionally, the open interest-to-volume (OI-to-Volume) ratio stands at approximately 1.14, indicating a notable level of open interest relative to trading volume. If open interest continues to rise while the price declines, it could suggest the accumulation of new short positions and an increased risk of volatility. Conversely, if the price rises alongside an increase in open interest, it may reflect the entry of new liquidity and fresh positions into the market.
