Senator Richard Blumenthal requested records from Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino concerning a reported $6.3 million agreement with Nxum, a marketing company co-founded by former White House crypto adviser Bo Hines. Blumenthal's Thursday letter sought information about contracts, payments, communications and lobbying involving the companies. Blumenthal alleged that Hines retained a one-third stake in Nxum while coordinating lobbying on stablecoin legislation. Blumenthal also alleged that messages reportedly showed Tether directing Nxum's lobbying on the GENIUS Act. Tether did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the investigation and the reported agreement.
