In 1992 Giorgetto Giugiaro unveiled the Italdesign Columbus, a minivan concept that was decades ahead of its time. This thing had a modular interior system where seats could be completely reconfigured or removed, sliding doors on both sides (rare for the era), and an elevated seating position that gave it SUV-like visibility before crossovers became a thing. The chassis was designed with a flat floor to maximize interior space—basically the blueprint for every modern minivan. Fiat and other manufacturers later borrowed heavily from this design language. Wild how a 30-year-old concept still looks more practical than half the vehicles being released today. The Columbus proved that functional design doesn't need to sacrifice aesthetics.
