One of the biggest mistakes in crypto trading is judging a project entirely by its current price.

A token can rise sharply without meaningful growth in its ecosystem. Another asset may remain quiet while its underlying technology continues to develop. This is why price action alone does not always provide the complete picture.

I believe three factors deserve more attention when researching a cryptocurrency.

1. Market structure

Understanding higher highs, lower lows, support, and resistance helps traders identify whether an asset is gaining strength or losing momentum. However, these signals are not guarantees of future price movements.

2. Real activity

Trading volume, network usage, and ecosystem participation can provide additional context. Comparing these indicators over time is often more useful than relying on a single day’s figures.

3. Risk management

Even a well-researched trade can fail. Defining risk before entering a position helps prevent emotional decisions when the market moves unexpectedly.

The most important lesson is that a strong opinion should never replace evidence. Every market has uncertainty, and even experienced traders can misread a trend.

My approach is to study the available data, consider both bullish and bearish scenarios, and remain willing to change my view when the evidence changes.

What do you prioritize when researching a cryptocurrency: price action, fundamentals, or market sentiment?
