Closing an XRP Ledger account can recover part of its locked reserve, but the destination matters: an exchange that accepts ordinary XRP deposits may not support the account-deletion transfer.
Xaman's existing guidance says to confirm that the receiving exchange or wallet supports AccountDelete before sending the remaining balance there. For funds already sent to an unsupported exchange, Xaman directs users to the exchange for help; Xaman Support cannot recover that deposit.
The receiving address must already be funded on the XRP Ledger. AccountDelete cannot activate a new one. The transaction also costs at least 0.2 XRP, so deleting the account doesn't return the entire reserve.
