"French Hill Urges Congress to Pass CLARITY Act During Lame-Duck Session
U.S. House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill said regulatory efforts to advance digital asset rules lack the long-term stability of legislation passed by Congress. According to Odaily, he wants Congress to pass the CLARITY Act during the lame-duck session before the new Congress takes office in 2027.
The Securities and Exchange Commission" means that French Hill is urging U.S. lawmakers to formally pass the CLARITY Act—a proposed law intended to create clearer, more durable rules for digital assets and crypto markets.

He is arguing that rules made by regulators such as the SEC and CFTC can be changed more easily by future administrations or agency leaders. A law passed by Congress would generally provide greater long-term certainty for crypto businesses, investors, and regulators.

A “lame-duck session” is the period after an election but before newly elected members of Congress take office. Hill wants lawmakers to use that window before the new Congress begins in 2027 to approve the bill. The reference to the SEC introduces the point that, while the SEC and CFTC may continue creating crypto-related rules, Hill believes agency action cannot fully replace clear legislation passed by Congress.
