**Gold just flipped Ethereum on Kalshi.**
Kalshi's 15-minute gold markets pulled in about $5 million in estimated fees in September — nearly twice the $2.6 million from Ether contracts, according to Predict Charts data via Cointelegraph. Traders bought 542 million gold contracts last month, versus 318 million for ETH. The kicker: these gold markets only launched in August.
Here is the part most people will miss: ETH didn't shrink. Its contracts grew from 6.1 million in January to 318 million in September — gold just grew faster. And the format itself is the real story: 15-minute markets generated $20.4 million in fees in the seven days through Oct. 5, a full 80% of Kalshi's non-sport fees. Bitcoin still sits on top at $60.4 million, but second place now has a non-crypto contender.
Does gold hold this lead, or does ETH take it back?
