US Treasury yield reaches a 19-year high
📈 The US 10-year Treasury yield closed around 5.11%, its highest level since July 2007, after rising nearly 15 basis points during the session.
🏭 The main driver was the September flash PMI, which climbed to 58.4, the highest since 2021, while input price pressures also strengthened. Elevated oil prices added to inflation concerns and pushed markets to price in a higher chance of another Fed rate hike in October.
🌐 Long-term yields above 5% continue to pressure equities and other growth-sensitive assets while tightening global financial conditions. If yields remain at these levels, higher funding costs and a stronger USD could remain key headwinds for risk markets.
