🇺🇸 Ripple’s banking strategy just took another major step.
The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted preliminary conditional approval for Ripple National Trust Bank in December 2025.
The important part: this is not final authorization yet. Ripple still has to meet the OCC’s pre-opening requirements before the bank can officially begin operations.
If completed, the national trust bank would place Ripple’s trust-bank activities under federal OCC supervision and could support its broader institutional and stablecoin strategy, including RLUSD. Ripple has said the bank is intended to manage RLUSD reserves alongside its wider institutional services.
For crypto, the bigger story is clear: major digital-asset companies are increasingly building directly into the regulated U.S. financial system.
