ASX faces pressure ahead of the RBA’s late-September meeting

📉 ASX 200 futures are down around 0.7% ahead of Monday’s session, even as Wall Street finished the week slightly higher. Domestic rate expectations remain the main source of pressure, with Australian bond yields still elevated.

🏦 CBA has moved its forecast for the RBA’s next rate hike from November to September, following similar shifts from NAB and Westpac. Markets are now pricing roughly a 90% chance of a 25 bp increase to 4.60% at the upcoming meeting.

📊 The RBA has already raised rates three times this year, while Governor Michele Bullock has continued to warn that upside inflation risks are materialising. That leaves Australian equities facing renewed valuation pressure, particularly in rate-sensitive sectors.
