The SEC roundtable on Sept 16 pitted the two chains against each other for round-the-clock stock trading. Whichever way it goes, the fact that this conversation exists at all says something.

Meanwhile $ETH is sitting near $2,600, still close to half below the $4,950 peak from August 2025. There's also the Glamsterdam upgrade coming up: testnet is planned for Sept 28, mainnet in Q4 2026. Upgrade timelines slip often, so I'd treat those dates as "planned", not guaranteed.
