SEC says it will move anyway

Look, SEC Chair Paul Atkins is basically saying: whether Congress gets the CLARITY Act across the finish line or not, the SEC plans to act within its existing authority to give crypto businesses and investors some certainty.

Honestly, that sounds useful. But also... we’ve heard the “certainty” line before.

Here’s the thing. Saying the SEC will act decisively is one thing. Turning that into clear rules that companies can actually follow is another.

No more guessing games. No more waking up wondering which interpretation changed overnight, who’s getting targeted, or what yesterday’s crypto rules suddenly mean today.

If the SEC actually delivers clearer guidance using the authority it already has, that could remove a lot of unnecessary friction. But until there are concrete rules and not just nice-sounding statements, I’d keep the champagne in the cupboard.

Crypto has enough uncertainty already.
