Binance Futures Report -- September 16, 2026
It was a broadly red session on the perps, with traders de-risking into the Fed decision. Across all 718 USDT-margined contracts, about 543 fell versus only 174 that rose -- roughly 3 decliners for every advancer. Total 24h traded notional was about $59.6B.
TODAY'S BIGGEST MOVERS
Gainers ran hot at the small-cap end: SYN +117.2%, LSK +44.8% (on a heavy $789M turnover), and AKE +26.0%, with ARB +17.0% and USELESS +16.6% rounding out the top five.
Losers were led by a dramatic unwind: AIN -84.4%, giving back a huge chunk after its earlier pump. Behind it, NAORIS (-17.5%), UAI (-16.5%), ZKC (-15.6%) and PLAY (-15.0%) all shed double digits.
BEST VOLUME MOVES
The turnover board stayed top-heavy. BTC ($16.02B, -1.4%) and ETH ($13.33B, -3.1%) alone did about $29B -- close to half of the entire perp market in two contracts.
Among the rest: XRP ($2.36B) was both a volume leader and the weakest major at -8.1%, while ZEC ($2.23B, +4.9%) was the busiest green name, out-trading SOL. Notably, tokenized stocks and commodities again filled the board -- gold (XAU), oil (CL), SanDisk (SNDK), SK Hynix and a semis ETF (SOXL) all ranked in the top 10 by volume.
The theme: risk-off breadth, extreme dispersion in the tails, and liquidity concentrated in BTC, ETH and a handful of tokenized-TradFi names.
On a red-breadth day like this, do you focus on where the volume is (BTC/ETH) or where the moves are (the small-cap tails)?
