The September FOMC is coming up, and honestly, I’m less interested in the actual rate decision than I am in how Bitcoin reacts to it.
Everyone seems to be trying to guess what the Fed will do. Cut, hold, sound hawkish, sound dovish… but we’ve seen plenty of times where the obvious trade ends up being the wrong one.
What I keep noticing is how sensitive crypto still is to yields, the dollar and liquidity expectations. If the Fed stays cautious because inflation is still too high, I wouldn’t be surprised if the first reaction in BTC is messy.
But that’s not necessarily the signal I care about.
I want to see what happens a few hours later, when the headline is gone and traders actually have to reposition.
If yields move up and the dollar strengthens but Bitcoin holds its ground, that would get my attention. It could mean the market has already priced in a tougher Fed.
On the other hand, if BTC starts losing support quickly, I’d take that as a reminder that crypto still needs easier financial conditions more than some people want to admit.
I’ve seen this before: the Fed announcement gets all the attention, but the real information is usually hiding in the market’s reaction.
So I’m not betting everything on a single 25-basis-point move.
I’m watching whether Bitcoin can absorb a less friendly Fed without immediately falling apart.
That reaction will probably tell us more than the headline itself.
