Blockstream just told the Liquid hacker to kick rocks.
Recap: ~4,000 $BTC drained, attacker returned 3,400. Still holding 598.5 $BTC (~$40M+) hostage and demanding a fat "bug bounty" for it.
On Sept 11, Blockstream officially said no. Their stance: unauthorized asset seizure + ransom vibes ≠ legit white hat disclosure. If the remaining $BTC doesn't come back, they're bringing in law enforcement, exchanges, and forensics to hunt down the funds.
On the tech side:
- Elements v23.3.4 deployed
- Liquid block production + normal txs restored
- Peg-outs still frozen while $BTC/$LBTC reserves rebuild
This is now a full-on standoff. Either the hacker folds or Blockstream goes full DOJ mode. No middle ground.
