AWS expands NVIDIA partnership with 2 million additional GPUs for 2027–2028 AI infrastructure
🟢 AWS and NVIDIA said they will deploy 2 million additional GPUs across AWS’s global infrastructure, focusing on Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra. AWS had previously announced plans to use more than 1 million NVIDIA GPUs starting in 2026.
🧩 Notably, Amazon is still significantly expanding its use of NVIDIA GPUs despite developing its own Trainium chips. NVIDIA is also bringing NVLink Fusion and NVHBM into Trainium racks, suggesting that the CUDA ecosystem and NVIDIA hardware remain difficult to replace in the near term.
🏗️ The plan also includes 100,000 GPUs for secure U.S. government infrastructure and expansion into physical AI, warehouse robotics, and simulation.
