I started wondering about something that is easy to overlook with tokenized assets: what happens after issuance?
Putting an asset on-chain may create a digital representation, but the asset still has a lifecycle. Ownership records change. Investors need updates. Corporate actions happen. Voting may be required. Restrictions and reporting still have to be managed over time.
That is where @DuskFoundation’s digital asset servicing approach caught my attention.
Dusk describes digital asset servicing as coordinating registers, corporate actions, investor updates, votes, and other lifecycle events on shared infrastructure. Its documentation also points to digital share registries, proxy voting, and corporate actions as workflows that can be part of the same regulated market infrastructure.
The interesting part for me is the problem underneath all of this: when these processes live across disconnected systems, every handoff can create delays, reconciliation work, errors, or unclear responsibilities.
So the bigger question may not be whether an asset can be tokenized.
It may be whether the asset can remain properly managed after it is tokenized.
That makes asset servicing a much more important part of the tokenization conversation than I initially thought.
