#dusk $DUSK @Dusk
Thinking about todays topic my mind went back to the first time I met @Dusk .It was kind a funny when I came across the word “Hedger” and honestly thought it was a typo 🫣
I already knew about Zedger, so my brein basically went:
Zedger → Hedger = same thing? Just mistake in the spelling?
Turns out -Not at all.
Hedger is Dusk's privacy system for DuskEVM, but it has to work within the EVM's account based model. And Dusk points out that this means it can't provide the same level of anonymity as Zedger.
And that's where I saw the tradeoff

Zedger → native architecture → stronger anonymity
Hedger → EVM architecture → familiar Solidity environment

So Hedger isn't simply Zedger for Solidity. It certanly isnt a Zedger with a typo too. It is a diffrent beast ... It's a different compromise.
And now Im wondering about the part that matters for actual applications.
If the EVM account model puts a limit on how much anonymity Hedger can provide, how much does that limitation actually matter when you're building a reguleted financial application?

Is it something the user barely notices, or are there certain types of financial activity where choosing the EVM route means accepting a very diferent privacy model?
