Selling about 1,200 USDT this morning, market sitting around 26,500 VND per token. Buyer messages: "Don't worry about doing the math, I'll just calculate the total and send it, easier for both of us."

Someone offering to save you a calculator sounds like a favor, right?

I said sure, sent my account details, waited. Number came through: 31,600,000 VND.

I almost released right there, felt roughly right at a glance, and honestly, not doing math at 7am felt like a genuine kindness he was doing me.

Then I did the math anyway, out of habit more than doubt. 1,200 × 26,500 = 31,800,000. He'd sent 200,000 less, small enough to vanish inside a seven-figure total, framed as a favor instead of a shortfall.

I told him the total was off by 200k. He blamed "a rounding thing on my end," resent the corrected amount within a minute, which is not how long real rounding confusion takes to resolve. That's how long it takes to open a calculator you'd clearly skipped the first time.

Funniest part: I would've genuinely thanked him for making my morning easier if I hadn't checked. "Thanks for the free math tutoring, here's your 200k discount" isn't a sentence I want to have said out loud.

🟢 If someone offers to calculate the total FOR you, appreciated, but check it yourself anyway, every time.

🟡 A shortfall hidden inside a big number is way easier to miss than one in a small number, that's the whole trick.

🔴 "Rounding" doesn't cost hundreds of thousands of dong. If the gap's big enough to notice, it's not rounding.
