$XRP BRIDGE EXPLOIT: ~200,000 XRP DRAINED
A serious cross-chain security incident has hit the XRP ecosystem.
An attacker exploited a deposit-validation flaw in the bridge connecting the XRP Ledger with another chain, allowing bridged XRP to be minted against deposits that never actually happened.
🔴 Around 200,000 XRP was drained 🔴 The attack reportedly involved dozens of unauthorized-looking bridge payments 🔴 The relayer signatures were valid, meaning the bridge’s own verification system treated the fake deposits as legitimate 🔴 The XRP Ledger itself was NOT compromised
The bigger concern? The incident shows how a weakness in cross-chain bridge infrastructure can create massive losses even when the underlying blockchain remains secure.
Meanwhile, XRPL is still moving forward. Version 3.3.0 introduces upgrades focused on tokenization, privacy and institutional use, with more than $530M in tokenized real-world assets reportedly already sitting on XRPL.
So this is a major warning for bridge security — but it should NOT be confused with an XRP Ledger hack.
$XRP remains under pressure around the $1 area, making security, adoption and ecosystem development even more important for the next move.
⚠️ Bridge risk ≠ XRP Ledger risk.
