The Legal Value of an Unedited Evidence Video
I learned this lesson after selling 541 USDT on Binance P2P in January 2026. The buyer claimed to have transferred 14.476.486 VND to my Techcombank account. I refreshed my balance and transaction history but found nothing. The order expired and was cancelled. The buyer opened an Appeal and submitted a payment video that looked convincing at first glance
Binance Support asked me to record my own evidence under strict requirements. The video had to be recorded with a second device, show the official banking app, transaction history and account balance continuously, and reflect exactly what was happening in real time. I first thought these rules were for clearer evidence. Later I realized they existed to make the evidence independently verifiable rather than merely convincing
After recording, I contacted Techcombank to check whether a temporary NAPAS delay could explain the missing transfer. The bank confirmed there was no pending incoming transaction. That ruled out another possible explanation before the Appeal review continued
The experience changed how I think about evidence. I used to believe screenshots or polished screen recordings were enough. An Appeal is not about proving a payment screen exists. It is about whether the transaction can be reconstructed without unexplained gaps. A convincing image can be edited. A continuous record of genuine actions is far harder to manipulate afterward
When the review ended, Binance concluded that the submitted video showed signs of software manipulation. What stayed with me was not the outcome, but how much weight was placed on independently verifiable evidence
Since then, I rely less on convincing visuals and more on verifiable records. Escrow protects crypto while the order is active. Order IDs, in-platform chat history and an authentic unedited video allow Binance Support to reconstruct what actually happened if an Appeal becomes necessary. The strongest evidence is rarely the most polished. It leaves the fewest unanswered questions
