According to on-chain analysis, roughly 4 billion ONE were created without authorization — around 26% of the existing supply — with approximately 2.8 billion reportedly making their way toward exchanges.
Harmony has already pushed an emergency validator patch, paused its bridge and is working with exchanges to freeze affected funds.
But here's what bothers me most.
This isn't Harmony's first major security crisis.
The Horizon Bridge hack already cost roughly $100M in 2022. Four years later, we're discussing billions of unauthorized ONE appearing on the network.
And now ZachXBT says he won't help with the investigation for free because people who assisted after the 2022 hack were never properly compensated.
That matters.
Security isn't only code.
It's also whether researchers, exchanges, validators and the wider community still trust the team enough to help when something goes wrong.
Harmony may be able to stop the exploit.
It may even recover or neutralize part of the unauthorized supply.
But recovering trust after a second major incident is a completely different problem.
