China Auto Sales Drop Sharply in July as NEV Penetration Hits Record 65.1%
🚗 Passenger vehicle retail sales in China reached 1.461 million units in July, down 20.9% YoY and 8.8% from the previous month, reflecting continued weakness in domestic demand.
⚡ New energy vehicle sales totaled 951,000 units, down 3.9% YoY, while NEV penetration climbed to a record 65.1%. BEV sales rose 6% to 647,000 units, while PHEV sales fell 21.1%.
⛽ Sales of gasoline-only vehicles declined by around 44% YoY, highlighting the continued shift away from internal combustion engines despite softer overall demand.
