Previously, I almost took it for granted that Binance P2P was safe because it has escrow, internal chat and a dispute system.
To trade safely, you have to rely on those layers of protection.
I had gotten used to looking at Binance P2P in that rather simple way.
It was only when I looked deeper into how the system actually works that one detail made me stop.
What caught my attention was not escrow itself,
but the fact that escrow mainly protects the crypto in the order, while the fiat money goes directly between the two parties’ bank accounts.
I had to read more about escrow, internal chat, the dispute process and how Binance evaluates evidence before I realized that this mechanism was not as simple as I thought.
At first, I thought that simply trading on Binance meant I was relatively safe.
Then I realized that the focus is not on how many layers of protection Binance has,
but on how users follow those processes
while keeping the entire transaction and evidence in the right place where the system can verify them.
From my current perspective, the real difference lies in the effort to
separate “platform protection” from “user discipline”
instead of treating the two as if they must always go together.
That made me rethink the trust model of Binance P2P.
The system does not try to completely eliminate the risks from the counterparty,
but instead creates a framework to reduce those risks through escrow, chat history and the dispute process.
Responsibility is separated differently, while the level of protection depends heavily on whether the user stays within that framework.
The four practical mistakes also started to become clearer:
trading outside the platform, not carefully checking the counterparty, releasing based only on a screenshot and not keeping evidence after the transaction.
I still feel I cannot fully understand all the implications of this design.
Perhaps the real question is not “Is Binance P2P safe?”,
but “How do users make those protection tools truly valuable?”
