Freedom isn't safe. Safety isn't free.

Old truth that hits different in crypto. You want the freedom to be your own bank? Cool — you also get the freedom to lose everything if you mess up your keys. No customer service number. No undo button.

You want safety? Hand your coins to an exchange, let them hold it, let them KYC you, let them decide when you can move your money. That's the trade.

People always want both. They want self-custody freedom AND exchange-level safety nets. Doesn't work like that. Never has. The whole point of this space is that you're choosing one side of that equation.

Most folks don't realize what they're signing up for until it's too late. They think freedom is just upside. It's not. It's responsibility. It's risk. It's you vs. the world with no one to call when things go sideways.

That's the romance of it, honestly. But it's also the part that wrecks people.
