I noticed a fee line on my testnet peg-in that I hadn't paid attention to before — paid in BTC, not BABY. Went looking for where that BTC actually goes, and the answer wasn't in the app at all.
It doesn't sit in a treasury. The design routes it into an automated on-chain auction: bidders pay BABY to win the BTC, and the BABY they spend gets burned outright. No treasury, no multisig, no discretionary call from anyone.
Felt like a toll booth that doesn't keep the coins it collects — it converts them straight into burning a different currency, automatically, with no operator deciding what happens to the cash drawer.
What stood out is this ties BABY's supply directly to vault usage, not to staking or governance participation. More BTC moving through vaults means more BTC to auction, which means more BABY burned per cycle. The token's scarcity becomes a function of how much TBV actually gets used, not a fixed emission schedule.
Worth being straight about this part — it's not live on testnet yet, still pending governance approval before it runs for real.
So does routing usage fees into a burn auction build real deflationary pressure once volume is real, or is early-stage adoption too thin for anyone to know if the auction will ever be large enough to matter?
