I used to think most reward systems failed for obvious reasons like bad design. Weak economy. Maybe just poor timing 😞

But the more I look at it… the more it feels like the real issue is deeper than that.

It’s not that rewards don’t work.

It’s that they work too well in the wrong way.

They attract the wrong behavior.

Bots show up.

People start farming instead of playing.

Everything turns into extraction instead of engagement.

And once that starts, the system kind of collapses from the inside.

Rewards keep going out but nothing meaningful comes back.

I’ve seen that pattern play out so many times it almost feels predictable now.

Which is why Stacked feels… different.

Not because it’s offering rewards.

But because it’s trying to control how those rewards are given

Not everyone gets the same thing.
Not at the same time.
Not for the same actions.

And that changes the dynamic completely.

Because instead of rewarding volume it starts rewarding behavior.

The kind that actually keeps the system alive

Showing up consistently.

Engaging in the right loops.

Contributing in ways that aren’t easy to fake.

And yeah, that probably comes from experience.

@Pixels already went through the phase where things break. Where systems get exploited. Where rewards get drained without creating real value.

So instead of designing something perfect from the start… they adjusted based on what actually happened.

Which explains why things feel a bit stricter now

A bit more selective

Less open to abuse… but also less “free” in a way.

And maybe that’s the trade-off.

Because if you want a system to survive long-term, you can’t just hand out rewards blindly.

You have to shape behavior.

Guide it.
Filter it.
Sometimes even limit it.

I’m not saying that makes it better or worse.

But it does make me think If a reward system only works when it controls behavior carefully was the old idea of “open rewards for everyone” ever sustainable to begin with?

Or was it always meant to break? 👀
