As global progress moves swiftly into the age of artificial and autonomous intelligence, we are witnessing an equally rapid rise in systemic risk. However, artificial intelligence is not naturally hostile. Instead, it serves as a powerful force multiplier that simply amplifies whatever targets we set for it. The danger emerges when we apply this technology to complex challenges we are still trying to solve, namely digital frailty, resource scarcity, and democratic fragility. Focusing on these vulnerabilities can cause risks to escalate in a harmful direction.
We currently find ourselves at a major inflection point, facing a straightforward yet absolutely vital question. Will we be able to guide an agentic future toward a coordinated benefit before the expanding threat surface grows completely out of our control?
Relying on d/acc is exactly how we can answer that question affirmatively.
Scammers are targeting Gitcoin community members via DM on Telegram, LinkedIn, and potentially other platforms.
❗ Message TLDR: They reference a real wallet address associated with previous Gitcoin Grants distribution and claim that's how they found your wallet, they claim that your wallet holds tokens on a sunsetting chain that need to be recovered, and they offer to "help" for a % fee.
🙅🏻♀️ If you receive a message like this: → Do not respond → Do not click any links → Do not share seed phrases → Do not connect your wallet → Do not sign transactions
📣 Gitcoin will never DM you offering to recover funds, and we will never contract others to recover funds on anyone's behalf.
These scammers might be capitalizing on the recent announcement of zkSync Lite deprecation. If you donated through early Gitcoin Grants on zkSync Lite and want to check whether you have funds to withdraw, please follow official instructions from @0xcyp.

According to Nassim Taleb, certain structures actually require chaos in order to develop, a concept he refers to as antifragility. This means that true resilience within a system does not come from simply evading pressure, but rather from utilizing that exact strain to build greater strength. We can observe this principle clearly when looking at the historical evolution of major blockchain networks.
Consider how Bitcoin has successfully endured widespread regulatory bans across major economies, state-level mining shutdowns, and the collapse of Mt. Gox. Rather than breaking the system, every single one of these severe events only hardened the network further.
Ethereum has similarly weathered its own massive challenges. The network successfully navigated The DAO hack, the Merge, and endless cycles of existential debate regarding its ultimate direction. Through every single hurdle, the foundational protocol became much more clarified and defined.
As systemic stress continues to act as a profound pressure test on our society, the way we build matters immensely. The specific design choices we make right now will directly determine the level of resilience we can achieve in our future.
The widespread distribution of false information, the secretive and rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, and energy systems that sit just a single bottleneck away from a crisis all share a common foundation. At their core, these major challenges are fundamentally issues of coordination, and solving them demands reliable methods for financing our collective efforts.
We require financial frameworks that empower communities to direct capital exactly when and where it is urgently required to tackle immediate threats. Fortunately, the instruments necessary to revolutionize how we fund these solutions are already available to us. The only thing missing now is our collective commitment to actually put them into practice.
We want to express our sincere gratitude for your participation in the PGN journey. As determined by a governance vote conducted earlier this year, the Public Goods Network (PGN) is officially concluding its operations.

Traditionally, the way financial support is structured creates a zero-sum environment. A solitary panel holds the authority to choose a single victorious applicant, leaving all other participants with no choice but to start over and try again.
We believe there is a much better way, one where financial backing becomes a positive-sum experience. In this alternative approach, the allocation of capital is guided directly by the community. Ongoing support ensures that active participants can maintain their efforts over time, and those who can prove their work has a tangible effect are compensated accordingly.
By adopting the appropriate financial models, we can turn this collaborative vision into a reality. More importantly, these equitable systems have the power to realign capitalism so that it prioritizes and rewards long-lasting, meaningful progress.
For the very first time, we are experiencing the convergence of two powerful movements. Artificial intelligence is drastically reducing the expenses associated with creation, while cryptocurrency is enabling capital to become completely programmable. Although both technologies are fascinating on their own, their combination creates a groundbreaking system for permissionless capital allocation. The moment has finally arrived to fund the next wave of innovation.
Vital biosecurity research has been completely shut down, and financial backing for cybersecurity has been drastically slashed. Furthermore, clean energy initiatives have suffered severe cuts, alongside the total elimination of various climate programs. Even within the traditional establishments that still operate today, a concentrated group of centralized leaders continues to dictate exactly which initiatives are explored, financed, and constructed.
The traditional venture capital model was not created to step up to a challenge of this nature. We, however, are prepared to answer the call. We firmly believe the time has come to construct superior systems that are inherently democratic, completely decentralized, and deliberately engineered to hasten the protection of our most important priorities.
Securing this future requires resources and will not pay for itself. We warmly invite you to join us so we can finance this vital defense together. 💚
Our experience with the BioFi Pathfinders Round during Gitcoin Grants 22 provided incredible insights. By leveraging quadratic funding, we were able to provide financial backing to 14 bioregional teams situated all around the globe. This initiative was driven by a $55K matching pool, which successfully attracted 1,096 contributions and generated $8,813 in direct donations.
Despite these achievements, a major hurdle quickly became apparent. The vast majority of our participants lacked any previous experience with a crypto wallet. To compound the issue, a number of these groups, particularly those based in the Global South, had to navigate the difficulties of unstable electricity and spotty internet access. We also noticed that very few participants possessed the expansive social media following necessary to engage donors at the scale that quadratic funding typically requires. Furthermore, an even smaller fraction of these teams had community networks equipped to make straightforward cryptocurrency donations.
To overcome these barriers and ensure the process functioned smoothly, we successfully integrated PayPal. This workaround highlighted a crucial takeaway for our team. Systems built for onchain funding inherently expect users to easily perform transactions onchain, yet bioregional organizations intrinsically rely on place-based trust to coordinate their efforts.
Moving forward, this leaves us pondering a vital question. How can we build an effective onchain funding infrastructure tailored for communities that simply do not exist in spaces like crypto twitter?
Sharing a thought-provoking perspective from @owocki, it becomes clear that relying on the traditional nation-state model is a rather clumsy approach to tackling our modern economic and environmental challenges. Nature simply does not recognize artificial human boundaries. Climate effects bypass security checkpoints without a second thought, agricultural networks operate entirely outside the realm of partisan politics, and river basins flow seamlessly across territorial lines.
Because of this reality, we are seeing the bioregion emerge as the most practical and effective scale for organizing our problem-solving efforts. A bioregion represents a genuine physical space forged by specific weather conditions, water systems, and soil types, alongside the native animals, plants, and human cultures that have adapted and grown together within those natural limits. Excellent examples of these naturally occurring territories include The Pacific Northwest, The Great Lakes, and The Colorado River Basin.
While these authentic physical landscapes are currently sliced up by governmental borders, the areas remain deeply united by a single destiny. They possess a tangible reality that arbitrary lines drawn on paper can never capture, largely because every action taken near a water source inevitably travels down to affect the remainder of the ecosystem.
This inherent physical link lays the perfect groundwork for joint financial commitments and collaborative environmental care. By recognizing and working within these natural unities, we create an environment where community funding, strategic organization, and our shared historical memory can become deeply and permanently established in the places we live. 2,400 years ago, the Mohists built defensive siege engineering manuals and distributed them to every city in China.
The theory: if defensive knowledge is free and widely available, aggression becomes uneconomical.
Today the @ethereumfndn published the EF Mandate – a thousand-year document that names the Mohists as an intellectual ancestor of Ethereum's purpose: defensive infrastructure that’s open source and available to everyone.
The Mandate enshrines CROPS (censorship resistant, open source, private, secure) as non-negotiable properties and reminds us that – while the Ethereum Foundation helps steward a defensive protocol – it's the ecosystem’s responsibility to build defensively on top of it.
To do that well, we need to know how to fund the ecosystem sustainably.
And the Mohists showed us that this path is best navigated when knowledge is legible, composable, and freely shared 💚👇
The methods we use to distribute capital are evolving as the Agentic economy intersects with public goods funding. To effectively support community initiatives, we must rapidly address several difficult questions. It is essential to identify which projects actually warrant financial backing, measure the precise impact those projects have delivered, and clarify the specific contributions made by each participant.
Relying exclusively on human judgment to answer these inquiries can quickly become overwhelming when operating on a massive scale. Thankfully, agentic solutions are beginning to materialize to help manage this complexity. Some of the most notable approaches include AI-driven proposal evaluation, constraint-first DAO governance, and the Deep Funding model introduced by @VitalikButerin.
While the potential benefits of these systems are undeniable, the accompanying risks are equally significant. The paths we choose to take today will ultimately decide if AI acts as a dedicated servant to public goods funding or if it simply learns to game the mechanism.
