I tried to picture what 100,000 TPS actually means in practice
When I first saw the number in $SIGN ’s CBDC architecture, it didn’t really register. 100,000 TPS sounds impressive, but also kind of abstract. Crypto throws around big numbers all the time.
But then I thought about it differently. If you’re talking about a national payment system, not just a chain with traders and bots, that throughput isn’t just a flex. It’s basically the difference between something that “works in theory” and something that can actually handle millions of people using it at the same time.
What made me pause more wasn’t even the TPS itself, it was the “immediate finality” part. No waiting, no probabilistic settlement. Once it’s done, it’s done. For retail payments at a national level, that feels like a requirement, not an upgrade.
The rest of the stack also feels very… institutional. Identity tied through certificates, ISO standards baked in, different privacy modes depending on whether it’s wholesale or retail. It doesn’t read like typical crypto infra, more like something designed to fit into how central banks already operate.
I’m not deep enough technically to judge how realistic all of this is at scale, but the direction is clear. This isn’t built for experimentation, it’s built for deployment.
Strategy (MSTR) just rolled out a fresh $42 billion at-the-market equity program — $21B in common stock and $21B in its new STRC preferred series. On top of that, a separate $2.1B ATM for STRK preferred stock replaces the prior program.

Interoperability Sounds Good — Until You Look at the Data It Leaks

The more ambitious piece — a trustless ZK bridge — isn’t positioned as a starting point, but something that comes later. It suggests the team is prioritizing core infrastructure first before adding more complexity. That’s not always how things are done in crypto. At the same time, there are still open questions. Cross-chain systems are hard to get right, especially at scale. Reliability, latency, and real-world usage patterns tend to expose issues that aren’t obvious early on. And if this gap around privacy in interoperability is real, it’s unlikely Midnight will be the only one trying to address it for long. Still, I find the positioning interesting. It doesn’t feel like Midnight is trying to become the center of everything. It feels more like it’s trying to sit in between — as a layer other systems can use when privacy actually matters. Whether that role becomes important or not probably depends on how cross-chain usage evolves from here. Před několika týdny jsem se trochu hlouběji ponořil do technické stránky sítě Midnight a něco vyčnívalo.
Ne obvyklý narativ o ochraně soukromí, ale výzkumná vrstva pod tím.
Většina systémů ZK, které jsem viděl, má tendenci považovat důkazy za obecnou vrstvu. Jedna struktura, aplikovaná široce. Midnight se zdá, že volí jinou cestu, kde jsou obvody více specializované v závislosti na tom, co se staví.
To může znít subtilně, ale může to ovlivnit, jak více aplikací běží současně.
Méně soutěžení, více paralelní aktivity — alespoň v teorii.
Pak je tu zásobník na tom všem.
Používání rámců jako Halo2 a věcí jako rekurzivní důkazy není samo o sobě nové, ale v kombinaci s něčím jako Compact to začíná vypadat, že složitost je posunována pryč od vývojářů.
Píšete logiku v něčem, co je blízké TypeScriptu, a systém se stará o kryptografii pod tím.
To oddělení je zajímavé.
Protože ve většině případů se ZK stává úzkým hrdlem nejen technicky, ale i z pohledu stavitele.
Na co se stále vracím, je sekvenování.
Mnoho řetězců zjišťuje škálovatelnost později. Midnight se zdá, že to navrhuje nejprve z výzkumné vrstvy.
Zda se to skutečně překládá do reálného výkonu, je stále otevřená otázka.
Ale dělá to celý proces vypadat více záměrně, než se na první pohled zdá.

Instead of forcing users to handle fees themselves, the model lets app operators cover those costs using DUST. From the user’s perspective, nothing changes. They just use the app. No wallet juggling, no extra steps.
It sounds simple, but it changes the experience completely.
When you connect that to how $NIGHT fits into the system, it starts to feel less like a typical crypto flow and more like something closer to how Web2 products work, where infrastructure costs are handled in the background.
Of course, the trade-off is that operators need enough resources to sustain that model at scale. That part probably matters more than it looks.

Znovu jsem se podíval na $SIGN a něco mi na tom zpočátku připadalo trochu zvláštní. Většina tokenových modelů, které znám, se jaksi točí kolem tržních cyklů… poptávka roste, když roste pozornost, a pak klesá, když se situace uklidní.
Ale u Sign se stále vracím k jinému úhlu pohledu. Opravdu to nevypadá, že by hlavním faktorem byla spekulace. Je to spíše spojeno s tím, kolik „věcí“ skutečně prochází systémem.
Každý čas, když je ověřena nějaká certifikace, nebo když se kus dat promění v osvědčení, nebo když je zaznamenána událost distribuce… ta činnost sama o sobě vytváří poptávku na úrovni protokolu. Ne proto, že by lidé obchodovali, ale proto, že je systém používán.
A pak jsem viděl to číslo ohledně vládních převodů. 1,4 trilionu dolarů ovlivněných chybami v cílení. Musel jsem to přečíst dvakrát. Pokud i malá část z toho projde něčím jako je infrastruktura Sign, kde je distribuce spojena s ověřitelnými důkazy, pak se křivka poptávky začíná jevit velmi odlišně od toho, co obvykle vidíme v kryptu.
Je to méně o hype cyklech, více o propustnosti. Méně o narativech, více o skutečném používání.
Neříkám, že je zaručeno, že to tak bude probíhat, protože hodně musí vyjít správně, aby instituce přijaly něco takového. Ale rámec je zajímavý. Posunuje to celý způsob, jak přemýšlím o tom, odkud by hodnota mohla pocházet.
Zdá se, že Sign jde opačným směrem než většina kryptoměn
Stále si všímám, jak většina web3 projektů stále obíhá kolem maloobchodu. Lepší peněženky, plynulejší onboarding, snažení se najít tu jednu aplikaci, která přitáhne miliony uživatelů. A abych byl spravedlivý, to dává smysl na povrchu. Přijetí obvykle začíná na okraji, ne od institucí. Ale čtení do $SIGN , to vypadá, že téměř ignorují ten playbook úplně. Nebo alespoň mu nepřikládají prioritu. Zdá se, že zaměření je velmi... shora dolů. Vlády, banky, regulované subjekty. Typ entit, které pohybují obrovskou hodnotou, ale také se pohybují velmi pomalu a mají mnohem přísnější požadavky.
V poslední době jsem hodně přemýšlel o tom, jak se vývojářské ekosystémy skutečně formují v kryptu. Ne z oznámení nebo hackathonů, ale z toho, jaké to skutečně je budovat den co den. To je to, co mě přimělo podívat se na Midnight Network trochu jinak. Pokud se vrátíte zpět k ranému Ethereum, ekosystém nerostl, protože byl Solidity skvělý. Růstal, protože základní myšlenka byla dost silná na to, aby vývojáři byli ochotni překonat tření. To je takový úhel pohledu, který zde používám. Většina nových řetězců následuje stejný postup. Granty, hackathony, dokumentace a pak doufat, že se vytvoří setrvačnost. Obvykle skončíte s několika vylepšenými ukázkami a spoustou nedokončených projektů.
To byla moje prvotní reakce, když jsem narazil na to, jak DUST funguje na Midnight Network.
Pokud to nelze poslat, obchodovat nebo akumulovat jako normální aktivum, připadá mi, že něco chybí.
Ale čím více o tom přemýšlím, tím více to začíná vypadat záměrně.
Protože jakmile DUST není něco, co můžete přesouvat nebo spekulovat o něm, pár věcí tiše zmizí. Je těžší s ním zacházet jako s uloženou hodnotou, což se vyhýbá některému regulačnímu tlaku, kterému čelily tokeny soukromí dříve.
Zároveň to snižuje šanci na spekulativní akumulaci, která by zkreslovala, jak je používán.
A možná ještě důležitější je, že to odstraňuje povrch pro určité chování, které obvykle závisí na přenositelných aktivech — jako je cílení nebo front-running.
Takže místo toho, aby se pokoušel být mnoha věcmi najednou, DUST zůstává velmi úzký v účelu.
Jen palivo pro realizaci.
Je to malá designová volba na povrchu, ale připadá mi, že to je jeden z těch omezení, které zjednodušuje více, než omezují.
Stále si nejsem jistý, jak se to v dlouhodobém horizontu projeví, ale rozhodně mě to přimělo podívat se na "nepřenosný" trochu jinak.
