Plasma has been quietly stacking real progress
Plasma is not just talking big, it is shipping. The mainnet beta is already live with a stablecoin first design, built around PlasmaBFT so confirmations stay fast and consistent for payment style flows.
The headline feature is still zero fee USD₮ transfers, and the important detail is how it is implemented: an authorization based flow with an API managed relayer so regular users do not need to hold a gas token just to send stablecoins. During rollout and stress testing, the zero fee path is being kept limited to Plasma’s own products, which honestly is the responsible way to scale it.
The other piece people are missing is the push toward fee abstraction. Custom gas token support and a paymaster approach means fees can be handled in assets users already hold, instead of forcing everyone to buy XPL first.
And the newest connectivity win is the NEAR Intents integration announced January 23, 2026, which plugs Plasma into intent based cross chain settlement so stablecoin routes can be solved across many networks without users micromanaging bridges.
