They improved Shor’s algorithm by ~20x, meaning a future quantum computer (~500K qubits) could: • Crack private keys in ~9 minutes • Roughly match Bitcoin’s block time • Turn mempool attacks into a real threat Timeline shift is the scary part. They now point to ~2029 for this level of power, not the mid-2030s. Instead of publishing the full method, they only released a proof it exists. That almost never happens.
