بدأت منشور Novograts ظهوره على الإنترنت، حيث أثار أحد مستخدمي Twitter محاولات الصين العديدة لحظر أنشطة معينة تتعلق بعملة البيتكوين وغيرها من العملات المشفرة، مستشهدًا بحظر عام 2017 على بورصات العملات المشفرة وحملة صارمة بين الإدارات على العملات المشفرة في عام 2021. وفي تعليق، ذكروا، "لقد حظروها ست مرات، ولم يحدث شيء. سيحدث نفس الشيء عندما يرفعون الحظر عنها عدة مرات".

حافظت الصين على مكانتها كقائدة عالمية في تعدين البيتكوين وغيرها من أنشطة العملات المشفرة على الرغم من اللوائح الصارمة.

أفادت التقارير أن وانج يانج، أستاذ في جامعة هونج كونج للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، شكك في سبب حظر الصين لتعدين العملات المشفرة في أواخر يونيو وحث الحكومة على تبني التكنولوجيا في ضوء المخاطر الجيوسياسية التي تنطوي عليها.
