1. FTMO – Best funded forex account platform overall
FTMO is a prop trading platform that’s specialized in forex trading, but can also be used to trade other asset classes such as indices, commodities and cryptocurrencies.
Before a trader can actually earn money from the platform, they have to complete an evaluation process that gauges their trading skills. The first step of the evaluation is known as the “FTMO challenge”, while the second step is called “Verification”.
The FTMO challenge has a 10% profit target, and the account equity can’t fall under 90% of the initial balance. Traders have an unlimited amount of time to reach the profit target (while keeping the account’s balance above the threshold).
If the trader successfully passes the evaluation process, they reach the FTMO Trader level, at which point they can start earning money if they trade successfully. The default payout ratio set by FTMO is 80%, but this can increase up to 90% if the trader meets the condition of FTMO’s Scaling Plan.
To start trading with FTMO, you’ll have to pay a fee, which will depend on the size of the trading account:
Account size Fee $10,000 €155 $25,000 €250 $50,000 €345 $100,000 €540 $200,000 €1,080
This fee is refunded with the first payout if the user reaches the FTMO Trader level.
2. Trade The Pool – Best prop trading platform for stocks
Trade the Pool is a prop trading platform that focuses on stock trading, which is a relatively unique proposition in the funded trading industry. Traders have access to over 12,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs.
Currently, Trade The Pool offers four different plans. Each plan has a one-time fee, which scales alongside the buying power it offers the trader.
Mini Buying Power Super Buying Power Extra Buying Power Ultimate Buying Power One-time fee $97 $300 $475 $1,240 Buying power $20,000 $80,000 $160,000 $260,000 Payout to trader 50% 60% 70% 80%
In order to pass the evaluation process on Trade The Pool, the trader needs to reach 2x their plan’s max drawdown in a period of 45 trading days. For example, if the trader’s max drawdown is $3,900 and they reach $7,800 in profit, they pass the evaluation and receive access to a Trade The Pool funded account. In the evaluation period, the trader must make a minimum of 30 trades.
3. Tradiac – Prop trading platform for various trading styles
Tradiac is a funded trading platform where traders can receive funding from hedge funds. The platform offers a very competitive profit split of 90%, and features a one-step evaluation process that allows experienced traders to get started quickly.
Currently, Tradiac offers accounts of the following sizes to traders who enter the evaluation process:
$10,000
$20,000
$50,000
$100,000
However, traders who pass the challenge can scale their account size up to $1 million if they prove to be highly successful.
For each of the offered account sizes, traders can choose between three tiers: Tradiac, Brainiac and Maniac. The Tradiac tier has the lowest profit target, the lowest max loss permitted, as well as the lowest fee for starting the challenge. The opposite is true for the Maniac tier, while the Brainiac tier sits in the middle.
Tradiac Brainiac Maniac Fee Lowest Middle Highest Profit target 10% 20% 30% Max loss 10% 20% 30% Daily loss 5% 10% 15% Profit split 90%
*The specific fee depends on the account size chosen by the trader.
4. The Trading Pit – Prop trading platform with highly scalable accounts
The Trading Pit is a prop trading platform where traders can trade various asset classes such as forex, commodities, indices and crypto. Trading on the platform is facilitated through CFDs and futures.
The Trading Pit offers four tiers of challenges, ranging from a $10,000 account on the lowest end of the scale to a $100,000 account at the top. The fees to enter a challenge range from €99 to €999.
Unfortunately, The Trading Pit’s offering is relative weak when it comes to its profit splits. The smallest tier, “Lite”, has a profit split of 50%, which can increase to 70% under certain conditions. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line “VIP” tier has a profit split of between 60% and 80%.
Tne area in which The Trading Pit is ahead of most competitors is the size to which traders can scale their accounts. According to the company, accounts can scale up to $5 million for traders that reach the platform’s highest level.
5. SurgeTrader – Funded trading platform with a broad variety of challenges
SurgeTrader is a platform where users can access funded forex accounts. The platform offers profit splits of up to 90%, but the default profit split is set at 75%. The account size on SurgeTrader can get up to $1 million for the platform’s most successful traders.
One of the unique aspects of SurgeTrader is that it provides a wide variety of challenges for evaluating traders. Traders can choose between fairly traditional 1-phase challenges and 2-phase challenges with no time limits, but SurgeTrader also offers “Lightning” challenges, which have lower fees but have to be completed within just 7 days.
SurgeTrader provides a wide variety of assets for trading, giving traders plenty of options to broaden their trading approaches. Forex traders, for instance, can access a broad spectrum of currency pairs, covering major, minor, and select exotic currencies.
For those interested in indices, SurgeTrader enables trading on popular indices such as the Dax, Nasdaq, Dow Jones, and S&P 500, among others. The platform also offers commodities and cryptocurrency trading.
The bottom line
If you are a capable trader, you won’t have too many issues finding a platform with funded forex accounts that suits your needs. As we’ve hopefully shown in our roundup, there is strong competition between prop trading platforms when it comes to profit splits, variety of challenges and tradeable asset classes.
