Journalist Abby Martin argues the Democrats' midterm gains won't translate into policy wins. Despite historic flips in Kansas and Texas—states turning blue for the first time in decades—Martin predicts the party will use GOP control as cover for inaction.

"They'll point to Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer and say 'our hands are tied,'" Martin said, claiming any progressive bills will be blocked by Trump's veto power. "We've seen this playbook several times. They'll try to pass a modicum of progressive legislation, it'll be stopped dead, and they'll say 'well, we tried.'"

Martin cited Florida's Angie Nixon—a Democratic Socialist who nearly won a blue seat—as proof the party prioritizes self-preservation over ideology. "Chuck Schumer said he'd rather not," she claimed, pointing to Nixon's anti-Zionist stance. "We already see where their loyalties are."

The midterms showed voter rejection of "draconian authoritarianism, big tech, data centers, culture wars," Martin said, but warned Democrats will "co-opt these movements, mobilize them into a voter base, and go with more of the same."
