📖 Glossary: Slippage
Slippage is the gap between the price you clicked and the price you actually got.
Why it happens 👇
• Market orders take whatever sits in the order book
• Thin books (small caps, quiet hours) mean bigger gaps
• Fast moves on news can jump right past your price
Example: you market-buy at $1.00, the book is thin, and your average fill comes in at $1.03. That 3% is slippage, on top of fees.
How to keep it small:
✅ Use limit orders when you're not in a rush
✅ Check order book depth before a big order
✅ Split large orders into smaller pieces
Ever had a fill way off from what you expected? 👀
