World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network, opening the door for institutional settlement of tokenized real-world assets.
The important part isn’t simply putting another stablecoin on another blockchain.
USD1 is being positioned as the cash side of institutional transactions, allowing it to settle alongside tokenized assets in areas such as securities, derivatives collateral, lending and RWA issuance.
That gives institutions a more direct way to move dollar liquidity around tokenized financial assets while taking advantage of Canton’s privacy and permissioning infrastructure.
It also fits into a much bigger trend: stablecoins are increasingly being built as settlement infrastructure, rather than just trading assets sitting on crypto exchanges.
If USD1 can gain meaningful institutional usage on Canton, this could become an important piece of the growing connection between traditional finance and on-chain markets.
