#dusk $DUSK @Dusk I went looking for what's actually been built on Dusk so far, expecting to find at least a handful of live applications. What I found was closer to one.
Pieswap seems to be the only real DEX running on the network right now, and total value locked across the ecosystem sits under a million dollars. There's a development fund, 15 million DUSK set aside to bring in builders, which is a real commitment on paper. But a grant pool doesn't automatically produce an app layer, and right now the gap between "funding exists" and "ecosystem exists" is still pretty wide.
I don't think this is really about Dusk lacking interesting tools. The privacy and compliance tooling is genuinely differentiated. The problem is more basic than that. Developers building financial applications want liquidity and users already in place, and users show up because there are applications worth using. Dusk is asking builders to show up before either side of that loop is spinning, on a chain that's also smaller and less familiar than Ethereum or its rollups.
That's a harder pitch than "we have unique technology," even when the technology really is unique. Grant money can get a project started. It can't force the demand side to exist while everyone's waiting for someone else to go first.
I'd rather see one or two apps with real usage than another grant announcement.
