I’ve been digging deeper into the @TermMax campaign mechanics, and there’s one nuance that I think a lot of people are glossing over.
On the surface it looks straightforward. The RLUSD deposit program is advertising 5M TMX as total rewards. That’s a big number, and it’s getting attention for a reason. TermMax is positioning itself as one of the few DeFi protocols actually building structured products with fixed-rate strategies and real on-chain capital efficiency. That’s different from the usual “deposit and pray the APY stays high” model we’ve seen for years.
But here’s where it gets interesting.
TermMax has also clarified that any TMX earned through pre-mining will only become available after the TGE. That makes sense from a tokenomics perspective. You don’t want massive unlocks before the token even lists. The problem is, if you open the whitepaper right now, the TGE date is still labeled as TBA. No firm timeline.
And it doesn’t stop there.
Currently, there is no published overall conversion formula for XP, AP, or MP → TMX. Those three point systems are what users have been grinding for across the different campaign stages. We’ve seen leaderboards, we’ve seen “4/4 stages completed” badges, and people naturally assume that finishing all stages means they’ve locked in their rewards.
But completing 4/4 does not actually confirm the amount of your future payout.
Think about it. We still don’t know how much one unit of XP is worth. We don’t know the weight of AP versus MP. We don’t know if there will be tiers, multipliers, or a cap per wallet. And we definitely don’t know what the final TMX allocation will look like for a specific user after the 5M TMX pool gets distributed across potentially thousands of participants.
This is important because expectations in DeFi campaigns often run ahead of the actual mechanics. When you see “5M TMX rewards” next to “deposit RLUSD,” it’s easy to do back-of-the-napkin math and assume a certain return. But without the conversion formula, that math is just speculation.
From @TermMax’s perspective, this likely isn’t an oversight. TBA TGE dates and undisclosed conversion rates are pretty common before a token launches. Teams want flexibility to adjust based on participation, market conditions, and liquidity. It also helps prevent gaming the system before the rules are finalized.
But from a user perspective, it means we should be realistic. Joining the campaign is still worthwhile if you believe in TermMax’s long-term vision around structured DeFi and fixed-rate yield. The product itself is what makes this different. Fixed maturities, predictable returns, and better capital efficiency are things the space actually needs.
So where does that leave us?
4/4 stages completed is a milestone. It shows participation and commitment. The 5M TMX pool is real. But the actual value you walk away with is still TBD until we get two missing pieces: the TGE date and the XP/AP/MP → TMX formula.
My take: keep building, keep participating, but don’t anchor your expectations to a number that hasn’t been defined yet. The moment @TermMax drops the conversion details, we’ll all be able to calculate things properly.#TermMax
