3,847 trades in. I still ran the checklist on trade #3,847 like it was my first.
Here's the thing that happened last Tuesday. Buyer sends me a bank screenshot, looks legit, "Transfer Successful" banner and everything. My gut said release the USDT, honestly, everything about the chat felt smooth, guy was polite, fast replies. But I had my phone propped up doing something else and just... didn't check the actual bank app. Habit. Opened it anyway. Balance hadn't moved. Not a single dong. That screenshot was a mock-up, probably made in 90 seconds with some editing app.
Would I have caught that on trade #4 back when I started? Absolutely, I was terrified and triple-checked everything. Trade #3,847? That's exactly when you get comfortable. That's exactly when you skip steps.
Made me think about pilots actually. Guys with 10,000+ flight hours, decades in the cockpit, still run the same pre-flight checklist every single time before takeoff. Not because they forgot how to fly. Because experience is precisely what makes people skip steps, you start trusting your gut over your process, and your gut can be socially engineered.
So here's my actual checklist now, non-negotiable, every trade:
Partner profile, completion rate, trade count, how long the account's been active. New account + high amount = slow down. Account name match, the name on the payment must match the name on the P2P profile. No exceptions, no "it's probably my brother's account" excuses from either side. Real confirmed funds, open your own banking app, refresh it, see the number change. A screenshot, a text alert, a "notification" is not money in your account. Screenshot everything, chat log, payment proof, order ID. Before you release, not after.
None of this is about distrust. It's about not letting a good mood or a long day override the process. Scammers count on you being tired, rushed, or just having done this too many times to bother checking.
