DuskEVM Was Supposed to Launch in January. Seven Months Later, It's Still "Upcoming."

I set out to write about DuskEVM's "quiet January launch." Turns out that's not quite what happened.

In December 2025, Dusk announced DuskEVM mainnet would launch the second week of January 2026 — clean date, no ambiguity.

Then I read forward. In May 2026, the Boreas testnet upgrade notes describe work as "advancing readiness for the upcoming DuskEVM." Upcoming — not live. A July 2026 update still frames it as "public messaging points to a mainnet launch in Q1 2026" — the same uncertain language you'd use for something not yet shipped.

So the honest story isn't "it launched quietly and nobody noticed." It's: a specific date was announced, and months later, coverage was still calling the same milestone upcoming.

That's not automatically a red flag. Compliance-critical infrastructure slipping a timeline to ship correctly beats rushing it. But it's a different story than "impressive silent execution" — and worth naming as what it actually is.

I'll believe DuskEVM mainnet is live when I see a block explorer link, past tense, no hedging. Until then, January is an announced date, not a delivered one.
