My bank account was frozen for 11 days because of ONE P2P trade I did 3 months ago
I'm not even joking. In May I sold 1,200 USDT on P2P. Normal trade. Buyer transferred 30.24 million VND, name matched, I released coin. Done. Forgot about it completely.
In August, my VietcomBank app suddenly stopped working. I couldn't transfer, couldn't withdraw, couldn't do anything. I went to the branch and they told me: "Your account has been temporarily frozen due to a fraud investigation involving a transaction from May."
Turns out the buyer who paid me had used funds that were later reported as fraudulent. The police traced the money chain and my account was one of the stops. I wasn't a suspect, but my account was part of the evidence chain.
11 days. I couldn't pay rent. I couldn't pay my phone bill. I had to borrow money from my sister to buy groceries. All because of a 1,200 USDT trade where I did everything "right."
What I do differently now:
I only trade with buyers who have 98%+ completion AND 500+ orders I avoid buyers whose accounts are less than 6 months old
I keep screenshots of EVERY trade for at least 6 months
I split large sells into smaller orders under 500 USDT
I set aside emergency cash that's NOT in my P2P trading account
The scary part? There's no way to know if the buyer's money is clean at the time of the trade. You only find out months later when the bank calls.
Has anyone else had their bank account frozen because of an old P2P trade? How long did it take to resolve?
