Ripple has minted an additional 10 million RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, continuing a pattern of steady supply expansion for its regulated dollar-backed stablecoin. XRPScan data confirms the transaction was processed on August 17, carrying a fee of just 0.000405 XRP. According to CoinGecko, total RLUSD supply now stands at approximately 1.71 billion tokens.

Steady Minting, Institutional Focus

The latest issuance reflects Ripple's ongoing approach to supply management. The $10 million mint represents incremental supply management rather than a push toward mass-market distribution, consistent with Ripple's messaging that RLUSD is a tool for commercial clients, not a speculative vehicle for retail traders. RLUSD is issued under the supervision of the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) and is distributed primarily through Ripple Mint, an enterprise-grade platform designed for institutions to mint, manage, and redeem the stablecoin, with its primary focus on cross-border corporate payments and settlement flows.

Minting transactions on the XRP Ledger typically use a multisignature setup to approve new tokens, a process common among stablecoin issuers handling large issuances. Ripple has not specified the purpose of each individual batch, though stablecoin issuers typically mint new tokens to meet demand from traders, support exchange liquidity, or facilitate institutional settlements.

A Stablecoin on a Strong Growth Trajectory

RLUSD's market cap has grown from $132 million a year ago to over $1.6 billion, with roughly $370 million added to its circulating supply in April 2026 alone. Token Terminal data shows RLUSD transfer volume hit $18.4 billion in Q1 2026, the highest quarter on record. In July, the token passed 50% of the total stablecoin supply on XRPL, making it the largest stablecoin by supply on the network.

The RLUSD/XRP trading pair has processed roughly $900 million in trading volume over the past six months, accounting for nearly 90% of all RLUSD trading on the XRP Ledger. More than $2.5 billion has been traded through RLUSD pairs on the XRP Ledger since the stablecoin launched in early 2025. The August 17 mint adds to a supply that has grown sharply from around $20 million at the end of 2024, reaching approximately $800 million on XRPL alone by late June 2026.
