My first Binance P2P trade nearly went wrong before it even started, and looking back, I am glad it did not.

Binance P2P is Binance's peer to peer marketplace where users buy and sell crypto directly with each other using local payment methods, with Binance sitting in the middle as a safeguard rather than a bystander. Every user must complete KYC verification before trading, which means the platform actually knows who it is dealing with. Once an order is placed, the crypto being sold moves into escrow immediately, so it is held by Binance and cannot be touched by either side until the deal is confirmed. All communication happens inside the built in chat, which keeps a timestamped record of everything said, and if something goes wrong, either side can open a dispute so Binance support can step in and review the evidence. Before sending payment or releasing any crypto, I always check the counterparty's profile: how long the account has existed, the completion rate, and the number of finished orders, since a brand new account offering rates far better than everyone else is rarely a bargain. And no matter how convincing a payment screenshot looks, I never release crypto until I confirm the funds directly inside my own banking app.

On my very first trade a buyer sent a payment screenshot that looked completely real, and I almost released the crypto based on the image alone before catching myself. Now I run the same short routine every time: check the profile, keep every message inside the chat, open my bank app and confirm the money has actually landed, then release. If a counterparty starts pushing, asking why I am taking so long or offering to prove payment some other way, I slow down instead of speeding up. That kind of pressure is one of the clearest signals something is wrong. When anything about a trade feels unusual, I stop guessing and contact Binance support directly through the app rather than trying to resolve it myself in chat.
