The Safety of Knowing When to Stop

I keep thinking about where true security in P2P trading actually lies and with my Binance P2P experience from January 2024 - the first time I transferred 28 million and got nearly 1,140 USDT - the answer seems more specific and the opposite compared to most other things.

This is not a common view of “the more information, the safer”. This is an opportunity to test whether the mechanism of only sharing exactly each party’s responsibility can actually bring higher security or not.

What I can actually verify is that the transfer content is only an identifier between two bank accounts (not a statement of purpose), writing “mua usdt binance” was immediately flagged by both the seller and Binance when they detected that my transfer content said ‘mua usdt binance’, which could trigger the AML system and all important evidence was already available in escrow, order ID, chat, along with payment details. I can also consider the process of only checking the actual bank balance before release and then letting Binance handle the rest, because it is truly a test of whether the discipline of “knowing when to stop” can work, rather than simply the surface-level expectation that dumping all the information out will be safer.

What I do not know is how this system will work under the pressure of larger transactions or when there is a real dispute instead of the controlled environment of the first time with 28 million. The question is whether only providing exactly what is necessary is actually right and sustainable.

I am watching whether the signals of the “safest” transactions - the times when I do not try to share unnecessarily - will continue to appear.
