Jefferies Downgrades Apple to Underperform as Concerns Grow Over iPhone Pricing Power

📉 Jefferies downgraded Apple from Hold to Underperform and cut its price target from $285.56 to $263.66, implying roughly 16% downside from AAPL’s latest closing price.

📱 According to Jefferies’ supply-chain checks, Apple may have canceled its 20th-anniversary all-glass iPhone planned for 2027 due to low production yields. The device had been expected to support higher average selling prices and margins.

📊 Jefferies also lowered its forecast for iPhone ASP CAGR from about 9% to 6.8% for 2026–2031. A foldable iPhone could become a more important hardware growth driver, although an expected price above $2,000 may limit demand.

🏦 Six firms now carry Sell-equivalent ratings on Apple, the highest number since 2012, although the broader consensus remains tilted toward Buy. AAPL fell around 1–2% during the August 10 session.
